Happy New Year, Curly & Fab fam! As we step into 2025, it’s time to embrace the energy of new beginnings. Whether you’re chasing big dreams or striving for personal growth, this is your year to shine. Goals are like the perfect curl – they need care, patience, and the right approach to flourish.
But what happens when you set off on a path and aren’t crystal clear on your direction? Well, you might end up in a place you never intended to be.
Let me help you by explaining what happened to me. A few years ago, my instagram page was blowing up, brands were reaching out to create content together, and I was trying to create a business for CurlynFab without really knowing what I was doing or even deeper, why I was doing it.
I went through the motions, created some cool content, made some money but something was missing. When covid hit, I was working from home, I got pregnant and I hardly was doing my hair. Because there was no why behind my content, I had no path to follow, and started creating content only when I got paid to do it. My posts became more sporadic, and my engagement took a hit. Eventually I looked at my page and even though I was considered a content creator/influencer, I wasn’t really creating content or helping people.
This year I want to get back to creating, but before I start, I want to get crystal clear on why I’m doing it in hopes of showing up more consistently and genuinely.
Here is what is helping me guide my way, and I believe it will help you too in creating your goals for 2025.
Start With a Vision, Not Just a Goal. What is your purpose?
We’re getting deep pretty fast, but knowing your why will direct your ship better than anything else. Before diving into resolutions, take a moment to reflect on what truly matters to you. What is your purpose? They say you’re living your best life when you’re fulfilled, excited to grow, and are making a positive impact.
The “Purpose” section of your goals for 2025 should focus on overarching, meaningful objectives that align with your values, passions, and long-term vision for your life.
These goals will provide clarity and direction ensuring that you end up in the spot you’re meant to be.
Below are 6 ways to get crystal clear on your purpose. These can be used for any goal, or a life reset. Was 2024 a bit of a let down for you? Try this exercise and put the work into yourself so that you can direct your life to where you’re meant to be.
How to get crystal clear on your purpose.
A. What is Your Life Mission?
- Define or refine your personal mission statement. I did a really cool workshop on this and I’d be happy to share how we crafted our personal mission statement.
- Goals might look like how you want to contribute to the world (e.g., helping others, making a societal impact, or being a role model for your children).
B. Make it Value-Based
- Identify your core values (e.g., integrity, kindness, growth, adventure) and create goals that align with them.
- Goals might look like volunteering regularly or prioritizing family time.
C. What Will Bring You Personal Fulfillment?
- Explore and pursue passions or interests that bring you joy and fulfillment, such as creative pursuits, learning a new skill, or travel. Take note of energy givers and energy drainers from the past year. What do you want to do more of?
- Goals might look like putting more time into your passion project or deepening your connection with your community.
D. Include Spiritual or Philosophical Goals
- Deepen your connection to your spiritual beliefs or philosophical outlook
- Goals might look like practice mindfulness, meditation, or gratitude.
E. Think of Your Growth and Self-Actualization
- Focus on becoming the best version of yourself, whether through education, self-reflection, or personal development.
- Goals might look like breaking out of comfort zones or tackling limiting beliefs.
F. How Do You Want to Impact Others?
- Determine how you want to positively influence the lives of those around you (family, friends, colleagues, or society).
- Goals might look like commitment to mentorship, supporting causes you believe in, or being a source of inspiration to others.
Your “Purpose” goals should feel deeply motivating and resonate with your innermost desires for meaning and fulfillment. These goals often serve as the “why” behind everything else you aim to accomplish in the year.
Think of this as your “big picture.” Having a clear end goal helps guide your daily actions and keeps you motivated when challenges arise.
