In 2018, on a whim, I created my Instagram Account, CurlynFab. Never did I imagine that brands would approach me to work with them, that my wavy hair photo would be posted on billboards throughout Toronto, that strangers would ask me for styling help on their hair, or that I’d ever jump into my shower with a water-proof camera to show anyone how I clarify. But alas, it’s been just over a year, and all of these things have happened!
The truth is, the curly hair community on Instagram is amazing, supportive, and knows how to lift each other up! Whenever I see new accounts in this space, I always think good for you! I have been where you are, and I understand how scary and vulnerable it can be to put yourself out there. Every once in awhile though, I’ll see a new account just BLOW UP! I’m talking ultra-fast growth, fantastic content, and a personality that just shines through those tiny squares.
In today’s post, I wanted to highlight those micro-influencers who are absolutely killing the Kinky, Curly and Wavy space on Instagram.
These accounts were recommended/nominated by the curly hair community on IG, and were listed based on their growth trajectory, helpfulness of content, and aesthetic.
So without further ado, I present my Top 10 Up and Coming Micro-Influencers in the Kinky, Curly and Wavy Hair Space.
10. @curly_lopez 
Sara is an influencer out of Germany who rocks short locks and has bomb reviews. I love her style, her 3A/B curls, and her quick videos. Bringing curl products to Germany with her online shop www.saricurls.de, Sara is changing the landscape and accessibility to curly girl products for natural curls in Europe.
9. @Curlywavynidhi
Nidhi is what #growthgoals are made of! Her long, thick, 2C hair reminds me of mermaid waves. Indian beauty and she’s got great reviews on products and application methods. What I love about Nidhi is that she also caters to the budget-conscious crowd. She has great posts on products available in India, and includes those that are light on the wallet!

Priscilla is a really cool chick. I didn’t realize you could catch someone’s vibe from those little tiny squares, but between her stunning definition, her tutorials (y’all peep that fro-hawk?!?), and her makeup skills, this lady is a must-follow! Recently, Pri committed to the big chop, and her hair has responded beautifully. I’m telling you guys, the definition is unreal. Check out her adorable styles, she’s always rocking something cute!

Shosh has an accent that I could listen to as a guided meditation. I just LOVE it! She’s fun, entertaining and has beautiful 3A curls. One of the best things about Shosh is that she isn’t just about promoting product after product, she has great posts on toxins and dives deep into ingredients. A fine-haired curly, she dishes the deets on plopping, porosity and glycerin!

What I love about Sandi is that she takes her time. This woman explains the nitty-gritty SO well. If you are looking for someone to walk you through the process, you need to check out her stories! Sandi isn’t afraid of speaking on camera, you can find her dishing the deets through carousels on her page. She isn’t just about that selfie-life; she’s really there to help! A short-haired 2C-3A, if you are interested in learning about curly-hair, Sandi has your back.

Folks, this beauty can rock a twist out or a BIG chop and have you begging for more! A 4A goddess, Catherine graces us with her natural hair and has tutorials on how you can too! A big proponent of health over length, Catherine recently cut off all of her hair! Just when I thought she couldn’t be any more beautiful, she busted out the waves! My goodness @MsCatrin, keep.it.coming!

If you’re looking for different products to buy, Shelly is your girl! Not only does she do her own videos, but she often features her baby girl who is just adorbs! Child-friendly products? Yes Please! With Shelly’s 3B/C curls, this beauty has one of the craziest transformations going from a straight-haired goddess to a curly-haired queen. Seriously, she looks like two different people! Check her out, she has some great content here!

Daniel is one of my favs. he has a ton of great product application videos, and trust me when someone has results like his, you follow what they are doing! He has a better pineapple than half of the curly girls out there. Want to know about after-gym hair? Check out his highlights. He’s always cheering on his lady friends, and I’m so happy that the curl community has shown him the love back. He’s definitely worth the follow!

Britt does a great job of teaching. Perhaps a teacher in her past life?? Maybe that’s her day job now? Truthfully I’m not sure, but what I am sure of is that her Instagram isn’t a running advertisement! She does a great job of explaining protein vs moisture, lends a hand on those DIY recipes, and has a ton of “before and afters” so you know what to expect! When I asked the community who they thought was an up and coming Instagram Star, her name was mentioned numerous times. Not just a head of beautiful 3 A hair here, but someone who is really looking to help a curl queen (or king) out!
1. @Curly Green Eyes and honourable mention: Karen!
Y’all, Davida was putting out great content to begin with, but one of the best things she did for her page was pull in her bestie, Karen! The two of them together are an awesome pair. They play off of one another’s personalities so well. What I love about this account is that it veers away from what everyone else is doing. Sure, you’ll find a review or product application video here or there, but what sets these two apart are their hilarious commentaries and videos. My favourite has to be Karen’s 6-week Curl-aversary. The bloopers are just as good as the actual vid. I say we get these two a YouTube channel with a series, and just watch their talents soar!
